Doctor Marie uses a very safe, temporary, A-brand hyaluronic acid filler; Belotero®. Belotero® is currently the market leader in fillers in the Netherlands and has been shown to be safe and effective in several scientific studies.
The filler contains lidocaine which has an anesthetic effect. The treatment is therefore experienced very well in terms of pain.
Please note that the lips are swollen after the treatment; they look fuller than the final result. Most swelling will be considerably reduced after 1-2 days, the end result will only be visible after 2 weeks. Bruising can also occur.
After the treatment you can cool the lips. Try to avoid direct contact with the skin on the first day and do not use lipstick or makeup on the lips to avoid infections of the lips.
Also avoid a visit to a tanning bed or sauna for 2 weeks, be careful in the sun and do not undergo laser or beauty treatments.
On average, a hyaluronic acid filler gives an effect of 6-12 months, depending on how quickly your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid. Smoking and sunlight will speed up this process.
There is an antidote to a hyaluronic acid filler; hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase can be used to directly dissolve (injected) hyaluronic acid.
